18 Actuate Speech Topics

by Katie
(Oxford, United Kingdom)

Here's my actuate speech topics list for every high school and college friend who dies for the best speech ideas for her or his speech class curriculum. Due to the education tradition here in the United Kingdom I use the term actuate rather than actuative. But that's just a matter of minor importance :-)

Speeches to actuate are designed to arouse and solicit action by your audience members. You have not only to convince them of your point of view - you attempt to change the whole mental process which leads to committment and sole agreement to require themselves to act as you insist on.

My examples of actuate Speech Topics are:

To Aid In:

1. Aid in safety and health precautions at your college campus.
2. Aid in support of women's empowerment in society.
3. Aid in the achievement of the UN Millennium development goals.

To Sign:

1. Sign in to a community of tutors.
2. Sign the petition on / against ... (fill in your choice)
3. Sign, seal and deliver a This I Have to Do Absolutely list and stick with it!

To Get:

1. Get the best college tuition program.
2. Get the most out of your homework with less effort.
3. Get a flu shot at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

To Volunteer:

1. Volunteer and travel abroad in Asia and enhance understanding between the western world and Asia.
2. Volunteer at a local elementary school.
3. Volunteer in our local campaign office of ... (fill in the candidate of your choice)

To Join:

1. Join the Donor Registry.
2. Join a healthy eating lifestyle.
3. Join the Simpsons fan club.

To Defend:

1. Defend the freedom of speech in our Constitution.
2. Defend a just cause in the neighbourhood.
3. Defend and protect the barrier reefs and become an ocean activist.

For example, the general purpose is to actuate. The specific speech purpose of actuate speech topic number 1 on top than would be:

The audience members will aid in safety and health precautions at our college campus.

Good luck and success to all!
Katie.

Actuate Speech Topics
by: Michael, Malaysia

Talking about Katies actuative speech topics - I volunteer and travel right now abroad in Asia (in Malaysia to be precise) and I want to enhance understanding between the western world and Asia. (See the number under the paragraph Volunteer)

How did I come to this? A speech, okay, an actuative speech to actuate brought me here abroad :-) The public speaker who talked about the cultural and historical importance of some Asian countries convinced me with his great speech topic on volunteering abroad. And so I did some months later ...

About the use of the word actuative or actuation or actuate, or even action - I would say only this: every dictonary of reference guide will give the same explanation. Like this:

To put or move into motion or action ...

So, the most important thing is that you write and deliver a speech that actuate agreement or approval on an issue that normally leads to great dissent at the coffee or dinner table at home.

Thanks Katie for sharing your public speaking ideas with us, and of course good luck to you too!

Actuate Romance
by: Salaya

Maybe romance is what we need
To lighten our days in this greyness
To place a smile on our faces
You can never have too much romance
In a life that's filled with sadness
Making us laugh with pleasure
Give me romance to dazzle me
To make my heart sing out loud
And make me feel I'm alive
Bring on the romance to me
It's welcome in a soul of tears
Appreciated from this coldness
Give me romantic words and deeds
So pleasing to my ears and eyes
Making me happy for a while
Give me romance everytime
Over all these teasing words.

Speech Topics
by: JIm

@LeeAnne : Hi, times are changing, LeeAnne, new and fresh ideas will stimulate students to think fresh and out of the box. Many professors use my pages in their class, and the students like it. The hundreds of college ideas for example sharpen their own imagination and with a little - wellwilling and kind open mind - help from their teacher, they can transform the actuative speech topics to their own assignment requirements. Perhaps an idea for your classes?
